About this deal
Newbury Comics Variant 2 (Cosmic Core Splatter - Translucent Yellow with Red/Yellow/Blue Splatter) /1000 The pressing is quite decent for me however with low surface noise and the odd pop here and there mostly. But those rough card inners should really be lined with plastic if intended to be used. I’m curious to know if others had a similar experience upon listening. I think those that are hoping for little surface noise will definitely be pleased, but I do wish there was a bit more punch to the sound overall. The music itself is excellent of course.
Absolutely noticeable noise on the first disc, especially on the quieter songs like Spokey Dokey/Space Lion. Makes me want to return my copy entirely. Second disc plays perfectly. LP , Purple Translucent Marbled; LP , Red/Gold Translucent Marbled; All Media, Limited Edition, StereoMy first gripe since day 1 has always been the rather unimaginative artwork. It does not reflect the show very well and does not work as a display piece. It may be by the original creator but thats a weak defense.
To not mince words Ill just say that this is simply a way to collect Bebop material and listen to the music on vinyl. One should not go in expecting some revelation in terms of sound or visual design. It does have decent bass and highs, its just how its all arranged and used that is a bit disappointment when compared to other great Jazz recordings and pressings.
