Samsung's memory technology propels the next era of planet-friendly innovation with power-saving DDR5. Even the average frame rate was boosted by 10% and 13% at 1080p. The margins are neutralized at the GPU-limited 4K resolution, but still some impressive gains at 1080p and 1440p in this title.

DDR5 does move performance along a little bit, DDR5-4800 was 4% faster than DDR4-4000 and 3600 and we continued to see around a 3-4% gain with each step up to DDR5-6200, hitting 178 fps on average. In the end, that meant DDR5-6200 was 13% faster than DDR4-4000.All product images shown are for illustration purposes only and may not be an exact representation of the product. Interestingly, Far Cry 6 benefits massively from higher memory bandwidth and that's not because the VRAM buffer has been exceeded as we're using a 16GB card. Rather, this game dips into the system memory quite heavily and as a result we're seeing up to 22% greater performance at 1440p when looking at the 1% lows. Fortnite also saw some benefit to using DDR5 memory, though for the most part the margins were less impressive. We did see a 12% boost to the 1% lows at 1080p, with a 6% improvement for the average frame rate and this was reduced to 5% at 1440p and then nothing at 4K.

hotaru.hino said:If it really was DDR5-6400, then CL40 would be faster than DDR4-3200 CL22. Even if it's DDR5-4800, CL40 should only be ~20% worse. Mineral oil PC build offers a number of benefits that make it an attractive option for enthusiasts. What that tells us: The answer to the question "Which is better, DDR5 or DDR4?" really comes down to which tests you include (or don't include). But whatever your selector set is, the results remain close, at least with today's modules.

Price aside, the Team Delta RGB kit has impressed us. It's fast enough to overcome the latency disadvantages of DDR5 and, at 6400MHz, it delivers impressive performance in apps that love bandwidth. Importantly it beats out a DDR4-3600 C16 kit in gaming. Pair it with a Core i9 12900K and GeForce RTX 3080 and you'll have a very fast, if monstrously expensive (and rare!) system.
In this article we'll take a closer look at memory scaling performance with Intel Alder Lake CPUs, or more specifically the Core i9-12900K, though these results should apply across the entire 12th-gen Core range, particularly when CPU limited. clienttons-s.akamaihd.net, 54-246-30-86_s-23-203-249-90_ts-1604429594-clienttons-s.akamaihd.net, 54-246-30-86_s-23-203-249-90_ts-1604433473-clienttons-s.akamaihd.net, 54-246-30-86_s-23-203-249-90_ts-1604433539-clienttons-s.akamaihd.net, 54-246-30-86_s-88-221-134-224_ts-1604435698-clienttons-s.akamaihd.net, 54-246-30-86_s-95-101-129-96_ts-1604424926-clienttons-s.akamaihd.net,
