About this deal
Novo Nordisk has signed collaboration agreements with Glooko, Roche and DexCom to support the future integration of its NovoPen 6 and NovoPen Echo Plus insulin pens with digital health solutions. Novo Nordisk are delighted to announce the launch of NovoPen® 6 and NovoPen Echo® Plus in Ireland – smart insulin pens that offer digital connectivity for people with diabetes. Insulin is a hormone made in your pancreas, which is a gland behind the stomach. It helps your body use glucose (sugar) for energy.

In 2021 Novo Nordisk submitted an application to the Health Service Executive for reimbursement on the NovoPen ® 6 and NovoPen Echo ® Plus and we are still awaiting an outcome from that process. In the meantime, we believe it is important to make NovoPen ® 6 and NovoPen Echo ® Plus available now to those people who wish to use this technology to help manage their diabetes. I have been using an insulin pump for just over six months now, but before then I was using Novo smart pens. I would use the Echo Plus for my rapid-acting insulin injections, and the NovoPen 6 for my long-acting insulin.
